Angela Mari
Angela Mari has become the third recipient of this scholarship.
The 17-year-old junior is the daughter of Ralph and Erla Mari of
Rockville, Md. She was the editor of the HVA Post for the 2003-04
school year, as well as secretary of the junior class, and a member
of the Highlanders select choir and the Lady Tartans varsity volleyball
team.
She was born in New York
City, and lived for a time in Missouri, but she graduated from Kingsview
Middle School, a Montgomery County, Md., public school, and chose
HVA because of its spiritual atmosphere, entering as a sophomore.
Angela enjoys reading
(her favorite author is Emily Bronte) and contemporary Christian
music. She has a brother, Tony, who is seven. A sister, Catalina,
died in infancy in 1996.
Angela’s dad is
an employee of Pavilion Apartments and her mother is a nurse at
Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Gaithersburg, Md.
Career goals are unclear
just now, but Angela is intrigued by thoughts of international business,
neonatal surgery, and the law.
“Angela is a highly
motivated student who involves herself in all aspects of campus
life. Her level of maturity and dependability inspires the confidence
of faculty and students alike,” says Jennifer Payne of the
HVA faculty. “She also has high goals and standards for her
spiritual life.”
